Paceco is included in the protected area of the salt-works. Here there are a particular habitat fit to several protected flora and Fauna. Nearby the coast there are many old wind-mills once used in the working and gathering of the sea salt; one of them, one of the bigger, has been restored and gets a dedicated museum.

Ages and ages ago, a great explosion amidst the Mediterranean Sea, made the top of a volcano rise up. It was Pantelleria, the black Mediterranean pearl. Though Pantelleria is an island it has always been a farmers' land.
