Another vegetable here particularly flavored is the caper. The terrace cultivation are spotted by singular squared building the Dammuso, whose walls are built with lava stone, moreover these buildings have got a white and domelike roof. Being Pantelleria an ancient volcano, there are several points from which warm waters and steam springs which make natural thermal baths. On the island there are traces of very old settlements such as the Neolithic site of Mursia with its Semi's necropolis. The tough castle of in the town is supposed to have been built by Normans.
