SS. Trinità church- Alcamo
The church had been founded in 1552 but in XVC. it was completely built again.
Founded in 1552, it housed the SS.Trinità confraternity and as it gained the title of parish church in 1615, it was given some benefices in order to be self-providing.
The church had been built in 1332 following the Catalan-Gothic taste, it became a parish in 1402. The plan had three aisles and the wooden ceiling shew chapels on its sides. It was later enlarged and modified; it preserves from the former building the bell-tower with its mullioned windows, Sacred Spina Chapel and the font. The church was built a second time in 1699 thanks to Giuseppe Diamante and to the architect Angelo Italia. The front in the neoclassical style is from 1786 by Emanuele Cardona.
The Dome had been covered with Majolicas tiles until in the late XX c. they went changed with copper. In 1954 a 3m tall statue of the Madonna was put on the bell tower top. The church became a Basilica in 1969. Next to it there there was a graveyard for poor people and a altar where they celebrate mass in time of plague and famine, besides a cross and an aedicul consecrated to the Madonna della Pietà. This little grave garden became a public one and in 1929 a war memoria by Bentivegna was added. Inside the church are preserved many a work of art: 38 frescoes by Guglielmo Borremans, besides 5 chapels on the left aisle, 6 on the right one and 6 more next to the apse. These chapels had been of families known in Alcamo and they were ought to ornate and take care of them; they were used to bury there their dead relatives. On the left aisle pens the entrance to the vestry where in 2010 a sacred arts museum was arranged. It houses several paintings, sculptures and precious furnishings from the XV to the XIX c. that were property of the churches in Alcamo.

Built in XVI c., it underwent several changes and reached the present look in 1770 when Giuseppe Mariani worked at its front. Inside, before the main hall, a lobby preserves an organ. The aisles are three and their vaults are painted with frescoes from 1768 by Giuseppe Tresca. The Church has been consecrated to the Madonna del Soccorso, who is the saint protector of Castellammare. To Her has been dedicated a Majolicas statue from 1599 which stands in a chapel at the main altar links. Frescoes by Domenico la Bruna ornate both the church and the vestry. The had previously been in the church next to the Castle on Inici mountain. Really worth to be admired is the Crucifixion by Orazio Ferraro (1650).
