Senate House - Cavarretta Palace
A baroque palace built on the former Loggia of the merchants from Pisa.
Built in 1672 the Cavarretta Palace shows its baroque style, it was projected by the architect Andrea Palma. Its front has three orders and the top one is adorned with the statues of Our Lady of Trapani, San Giovanni Battista and Sant'Alberto, standing inside three niches, by Giuseppe Nolfo who was an artist from the XVIII c.

A clock and a very fine mechanical datary on the second level, were added in 1827. The building that had been a property of Cavarrettas, was bought by the town in order to house the Senate. The Pisa Loggia was one of the place dedicated to the trade business in Trapani that, thanks to its lively port, received merchants from all over the Mediterranean Sea. These Loggias were used as actual consulates: each country or city had its one there were a Loggia for any of the maritime Republics. The main street where today are beautiful shops and wonderful buildings, is commonly called Loggia probably one of the oldest word used in Trapani and it point out the place where society life takes place.
