The church is today de consecrated. It has a round plan and a single huge aisle. Inside it shows a Baroque taste.

The building took 20 years from 1681 to 1700, It had been entrusted to the priests congregation of Sant'Alberto. The saint was the first Carmelitan to be worshipped and he was given the title of saint protector of Trapani and Erice. His relics are saved in many a church all along Italy and they are used during the consecration of Saint Albert water and thaumaturgical cotton. His integral skull is preserved in the Carmelitan church in Trapani inside a Chapel built in 1586 in the same place is even the silver relics statue of Saint Albert by the silversmith Vincenzo Bonaiuto. Next to it there is the little cell where the saint lived. Every year on 7 august a feast is celebrated on memory of the plague which the saint had overcome in 1624.
