It had been firstly consecrated to San Giovanni Battista when, in the XIIc. , the Templars built it. As Federico Aragonese III abolished the Templars' Order the church was granted to Augustinian Friars who renovated it as it looks today: the singular hut-like front with a big rose and a polygonal apse. In 1535 the Augustinians consecrated it to Sant'Agostino and later the church was called the Senate-church. At the top of the main door there is a niche housing a big statue representing the Madonna with the Child. In XIXc. the church was closed and the monastery there by destroyed. The apse and a significative part of the aisle went under the bombs in 1943. Today Sant'Agostino church guests the diocesan museum in Trapani.
