San Liberale was the saint protector of coral-fishermen, the church was built in the first XVIIc.
Overlooking the sea, the church is consecrated to Saint Liberale the saint protector of coral-fishermen who made it built in XVII when one of them died killed by Saracen pirates. The same day a great deal of coral had been fished and they thought it had been thanks to their friend Liberale sacrifice. The building has a tufas structure and its inside has been changed. It is still opened.
The church, consecrated to Santo Liberale, has a really enchanting charme. It stands between Largo delle Sirene and Ligny tower and lays upon the last rocks of this west Sicilian coast. Its front is very simple and sober. It changes as the weather changes giving forth ever new landscapes. On becalmed days it welcomes a particularly vivid light and every single sunbeam is reflected by the sea. On stormy days the waves reach the church's wall drawing a frame of foamy and sparkling salted drops. Coral-fishermen made the church being built on the memory of one of them who had been killed by Saracen pirates after a good fishing day. The Martyr was never regularly sanctioned but he was and he still is considered a powerful Saint protector.
