The little house on the lonely rock

Nasi small villa is a historical building which the whole town loves. It shows an Art-Noveau style and stands on slight spit of land extending towards Ligny tower and Colombaia Castle just opposite Palumbo Rock. Nunzio Nasi, who lived between 1850 and 1935, had been the Postmaster General during Pelloux's rule and Minister for Education during Zanardelli's one. He chose this impressive rock called, "Lo Scoglio", as the perfect place where he should have his own abode, and bought it directly from the government.

He chose this impressive rock called, "Lo Scoglio", as the perfect place where he should have his own abode, and bought it directly from the government. The building is entirely a rustic ashlar-worked one and was a project of the Engineer Manzo started in 1898. You reach it along a small boulevard with stone benches. The front is divided by means of corner pillars and has two projecting and decorated wings. Inside there are still the same vintage furniture and a bust representing Nasi himself by Ettore Ximenes. In the barren garden there is a little liberty chapel.
An inscription, on one of the Villino's walls, reads poem written for Nasi by Tito Marrone: "the Rock" - " On this rock where he had hoped for nothing to find his sanctuary of peace for is troubled life, hangs over the soul of Nunzio Nasi, he keeps his conversations with God, with the Sea, with Posterity."
Nowadays the small villa is a property of the Libero Consorzio Comunale.
