The Casina delle Palme, best known as "Chalet" as well as "Chalet Fiorino", had been built in 1922 by Francesco La Grassa, the same engineer who projected our beautiful Post Palace, who was the son of The man who created the wonderful Organ in San Pietro church.

It had been conceived as a place where have some rest when in the summer evening people could have a coffe or an ice-cream facing the seaside. The two level building saved a very tall palm tree inside it that grows high throughout an hole on the roof. The little garden all around the building had been arranged with little liberty coffee tables and had been surrounded by a small wall. after the bombs in the II world war had destroyed the whole port area, the Chalet was built again by Andrea Lipari and a little masonry stage was built. There cabaret shows and many a singer played in the summer evenings. The Casina delle Palme is a little liberty jewel and we can still appreciate its colored windows and its wrought iron floral arrangements.
