Segesta had been founded by Aceste, the son of Egesta, who guested Enea coming from the destroyed Troia. It was a elision town and nowadays it is an archaeological site with its Temple from the Vc. b,C. and the greek theater at the top of the hill.

The theater itself offers moreover the wonderful natural landscape, many a cultural event. The Archeological site goes on higher in Contrada Mangano where have been found another temple necropolis and  medieval castle and cathedral. There nearby lays Calatafimi a Middle Ages little town, full of churches and typically Arabian with its narrow and curved streets. Here on Pianto Romano were fought the hard battle of the Garibaldi's Thousand.
