Its general outstanding is called "Camillianeo" after the name of the Florentine architect, Camillo Camilliani, who projected and built several tower on the same area, around 1583. The Viceroy of the time had, in fact, ordered that a safer defense from pirates' raids should be built. The tower has a squared plan, as most of the other, and few simple compartments, besides a wide tank collecting rain waters. A later stair built outside it, led to a roofing terrace where not less than three guards had to stay. The tower has been restored after a long period it was rather neglected.
