Church and Museum del Carmine - Marsala
Its a Baroque building aged XVIc.
The long square in Marsala guests the Carmelitan set made of a bell tower, a church and a monastery aged XIIc. The church was later built again and got its Baroque look.
The Carmine set is made up of three buildings: a tower, a church and a monastery today known as Giovanni Cappasanta House. The long square that guests the buildings is one of the biggest in Marsala. The former church, probably founded by Carmelitans friars, underwent several changes and a bigger one was built next to the older in 1490. The first church became the vestry of the new one while the ancient house became chapels. The octagonal bell tower was built by Giovanni Biagio Amico in XVIII hiding the former one and it's characterized by a helicoidal stair. The ancient cloister inside the monastery had a wonderful Rococò colonnade. There are many interesting architectonical elements besides tracks of frescoes hardly datable. Today the set guests a show of contemporary paintings by several great artists.
