Scopello Tuna-fishing ground
The most evocative among the tuna-fishing grounds in Sicily, it guested even many a chak.
The Saudis destroyed the old Roman Cetaria -fish pond- and built the tuna fishing ground improving activities. The Place was a state property till in 1442 it was sold to Sanclementes who in XV and XVI enlarged the very starting core. In XVII c., thanks to Jesuits the building was restored and provided with a little church.

This tuna fishing ground and its mazed network worked yet in '80s. The XVIc. Doria tower on a small hill and a second tower from the XIII, had been conceived in order to overlook the movements on the sea all around the area in case fish shoals or pirates were approaching.
